Victoria de Toledo primarily handles employment cases. She represents individuals who have been terminated, as well as employees who need assistance or protection in their employment such as employees who have been sexually harassed or are being discriminated against while still employed. She assists individuals in the drafting and review of their employment contracts, severance agreements and non-competition agreements. In addition, she handles pension rights claims.
Victoria de Toledo started practicing law in Connecticut in 1981, and has been actively involved in the civil rights field since 1976. She has lectured extensively about employment law in Connecticut as well as throughout the country.
Victoria de Toledo was a member of the Executive Committee of the Labor and Employment Section of the Connecticut Bar from 1985 to 1997, and was chosen by other experienced employment lawyers to serve as Chair of the section. She also has been a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association where she was a member of the Affiliates and Nominating Committees. She also co-founded and then served as President of the Connecticut Employment Lawyer's Association for over a decade. She was asked by nationally preeminent employment lawyers to join the College of Employment and Labor Lawyers. In addition, Ms. de Toledo has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America for 15 years and is ranked as one of the top 25 female lawyers in Connecticut. She was recently featured on the cover of the New England Super Lawyers magazine .
Community Service and Pro Bono Activities
Ms. de Toledo has volunteered her professional time to help individuals who cannot afford legal services. She has been providing free legal services through Connecticut Legal Services for over 20 years. She also assists the federal courts by serving as a Special Master in trying to resolve federal cases. She also has been appointed by the court to serve on the Federal Grievance Committee; the committee decides whether lawyers have appropriately carried out their duties to clients.
Ms. de Toledo has also volunteered her personal time in working for many years with the Family & Children Agency in Norwalk to help better the lives of the impoverished. She co-founded a volunteer group of mothers and children which took on projects such as providing: food baskets for new mothers, clothes for families, furniture for young couples, and personal care baskets for the homeless. Now that her own children are in college, Ms. de Toledo is mentoring two underprivileged adolescents.
