Biography

Daniel has had a lifelong passion for advocacy on behalf of those who need it the most, and the power of a just cause to overcome the obstacles that the wealthy and powerful always put in the way of that just cause.

Daniel has been representing injured victims in courts across Connecticut and New York for 13 years. When he began his legal career, in the midst of the 2008 Great Recession, Daniel took a position with a firm that represented banks in foreclosure actions – he lasted approximately four months in that role until he could no longer continue to represent large corporate banks and investors against individual homeowners.

Instead, Daniel opted to join Raymond Schwartzberg & Associates, PLLC, in New York City, a firm that represents only individuals in personal injury, medical malpractice, and other litigation matters throughout the New York City metropolitan area. Daniel was familiar with that firm and knew Mr. Schwartzberg’s daughter, Hilary, who began working there upon graduation, from their time as students together at The University of Connecticut School of Law.

Daniel was given nearly immediate opportunities to take cases to trial, which he did with vigor, passion, and preparation, always on behalf of the injured, seeking justice for the wrongs done to them that caused them to needlessly suffer physical injuries and pain, emotional and mental suffering, and lost income on top of medical bills and expenses. Whether the case was against the City of New York, New York City Transit Authority, or an individual whose large and well-funded insurance company paid lawyers, Daniel has always fought them through to verdict if necessary, to give his clients their day in court, to tell their story to a jury, and to win them the compensation that the law allows.

Daniel and Hilary, at the time engaged to be married, expanded their practice to Connecticut in 2010 and opened The Schwartzberg Law Firm, LLC a companion firm to that in New York. Daniel has since represented individuals in both Connecticut and New York who need a skilled, hardworking, and dedicated attorney to attain the maximum compensation for their injuries.

Having a detailed knowledge of the laws of both Connecticut and New York has proven to be invaluable, as Daniel can carefully advise clients, not to mention other attorneys, about the differences in the two jurisdictions, and about the elements of those laws that can be traps for the unwary such as filing deadlines and Statutes of Limitations. Daniel has been able to help clients from both New York who have cases that must be brought in Connecticut, as well as those from Connecticut with cases that must be brought in New York.

Daniel is admitted to practice law before the Courts of the States of Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts, and in Federal Court in the District of Connecticut, Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.  He is a member of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers’ Association, New York State Trial Lawyers’ Association, and Fairfield County Bar Association. He is also currently the Treasurer of the University of Connecticut Law School Alumni Association, and has served on the UConn Law Alumni Board for four years.

When he’s not working on behalf of injured victims and their families, Daniel can be found spending time with Hilary and their two young children, completing a crossword puzzle, or playing hockey or softball in local recreational leagues.
